Due
to homeland security issues at the airports, we have been forced
to make a radical change to our latching system. Our unique
internal latches required prior knowledge to operate them
properly. Musician can no longer be present to close the case when security personnel
open it for inspection. Without prior knowledge of how
to operate the latches, some musicians have received their
case at the end of a flight with some latches improperly
closed. We deeply regret having to have made this change,
but global issues have given us no choice. The new external
butterfly latches are very secure requiring no prior knowledge as
to how to operate them.
OUR GOAL
Without sacrificing safety and
quality, our challenge was to manufacture a upright bass travel case in the United States that
maintained or exceeded current
standards of structural integrity and ease of operation,
at a lower cost then what is available on the
market. Seven years later and over
1000 of our bass cases in use, the SBS Flight Case has
proven itself to be a successful competitor in the bass
trunk market.
HOW WE DID IT
Two main factors
contributed to the combination of high quality and low cost.
Listening to
our clients: With over 35 years experience addressing the
needs of bassists, consulting with musicians at every stage of
the design phase, we were able to streamline the SBS Flight
Case
down to its most essential components. By eliminating
unnecessary features and materials, we were able to cut our
costs significantly while maintaining the high level of safety
and quality that bassists demand. Simplicity in design without
sacrificing safety was our goal. Extensive
research: In order to make the most informed decisions , we
considered hundreds of samples of hardware and materials, from
which we selected the best and most cost-effective combination
available. The SBS Flight Case is the
direct result of our continuing commitment to provide all members
of the bass community with the highest quality equipment and
services at the most reasonable prices possible.
